Elaine Kolasa was born in Detroit around 1940. She attended Fordson High School received her BA and MA from the University of Michigan. For 30 years Elaine shared her love of art with her students in the Ann Arbor Schools, including Lawton Elementary, always focusing on the development of independent thought and the freedom of creative process.
Her own works are characterized by organic forms in vibrant color, and she was known for the ease with which she pivoted between non-objective and objective subject matter. Her work has been shown in Saugatuck, Saginaw and New Orleans.
