"Considered one of the outstanding palette knife artists of the United States, Harold Harrington Betts was a landscape and portrait painter best known for his impressionistic, colorful renditions of the American Midwest and Southwest. He also painted early twentieth century celebrities, namely Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone, and Henry Ford; all three of their large-scale portraits were displayed together at the Chicago World’s Fair in 1933. Betts would create his paintings from life and from photographs over several hours.”
